How To Write A Great Admission Essay What life perspectives would you contribute to the Rice community? Students enrolled in concurrent high school and college courses are considered first-year candidates. These exams are purely optional and at the discretion of the students to submit. Through this joint effort we seek to enroll underrepresented students of high-achievement that desire to work in healthcare and represent the diverse communities in which they serve. Rice and Baylor College of Medicine select a limited number of first-year students each year to pursue a four-year bachelor's degree at Rice, followed by conditional admission to Baylor College of Medicine. Students wishing to provide additional exams for admission consideration are welcome to submit these to our office. Half of UCI’s students complete their requirements and graduate in four years or less. Your personal insight questions provide context for the rest of your application. We consider all information provided in your application, including your answers to the personal insight questions. In addition to the extra grade points earned, units from transferable community college courses are applied toward your UCI degree. Students are not precluded from taking standardized tests and sending scores if they are able. Doing so can support their statewide UC eligibility, application for certain scholarships, and help them fulfill some University graduation requirements. Students will not be at a disadvantage should they not submit a test score. This modification to the test requirement is not intended as an admissions policy shift but is rather a temporary accommodation driven by the current extraordinary circumstances. From the largest dodgeball game to the largest game of capture the flag, UCI students have started a tradition of breaking Guinness world records. Also note that AP exam scores will not be accepted via high school or college transcripts. If you do not have a high school diploma, the university will accept the GED certificate in place of a diploma. Most applicants will challenge themselves by taking advantage of the rigorous coursework available to them. At a minimum, students must complete the following. Transcripts will not be accepted by fax or email. Rice is lauded for creating a collaborative atmosphere that enhances the quality of life for all members of our campus community. The Residential College System and undergraduate life is heavily influenced by the unique life experiences and cultural tradition each student brings. Rice will allow first-year and transfer student applicants to undergraduate degree-seeking programs for the application cycle to submit SAT or ACT test scores, if they choose. Students who are unable to submit test scores or prefer not to submit test scores will be given full consideration in the admission selection process. Students admitted with curriculum deficiencies will be asked to complete the required work by taking high school or college-level courses during the summer before enrollment at Rice. Rice seeks students who demonstrate intellectual vitality through their course selection and their grade performance. However, you must still meet the Subject, Scholarship, and Examination requirements. UCI also accepts California Certificate of Proficiency. Transferable courses taken at a community college are awarded extra grade points in the admission process, just as Advanced Placement and certified honors courses are. However, the university limits the number of honors-level courses you can accrue to eight semesters.
